Galatasaray Sign Russian Opposite Vita Akimova
Galatasaray Daikin have signed Russian opposite Vita Akimova on a one-year contract ahead of their return to the CEV Champions League.
Galatasaray Daikin have announced the signing of Russian opposite Vita Akimova for the 2026/27 season.
The 24-year-old has agreed to a one-year contract with the Turkish club. She will join the reigning CEV Cup champions as they prepare to compete in the CEV Champions League next season.
Akimova is 197 centimetres tall and has already gained experience in Russia, France and Italy. Her former clubs include Dinamo-Ak Bars, Sparta Nizhny Novgorod, Dinamo Metar and Volero Le Cannet.
She later continued her career in the Italian league with Igor Gorgonzola Novara and Numia Vero Volley Milano.
Akimova said she was proud to join Galatasaray and was looking forward to meeting her new teammates and supporters.
Her arrival gives the Istanbul club another powerful attacking option as it builds a roster for domestic and European competition.
