Germany Come Back to End Serbia’s Finals Hopes
Serbia lost 3–2 to Germany after leading by two sets, ending their hopes of reaching the 2026 VNL Finals.
Serbia will miss the 2026 Volleyball Nations League Finals after losing 3–2 to Germany at Belgrade Arena.
Gheorghe Crețu’s team won the opening two sets and moved close to a victory worth three points. Germany responded by reducing their errors and placing greater pressure on Serbia’s attack and reception.
The match was decided in a tense tie-break. Serbia led 12–10 but could not protect the advantage. Anton Brehme created problems with his serve before Erik Röhrs completed Germany’s comeback with the final two attacking points for a 15–13 win.
Röhrs led Germany with 22 points. Brehme and Tobias Brand added 20 each in a balanced German performance.
Veljko Mašulović was Serbia’s top scorer with 20 points, while Pavle Perić contributed 13 and Lazar Marinović finished with 12.
The defeat removed Serbia from contention for the VNL Finals. They will complete their preliminary-round campaign against Slovenia in Belgrade on Sunday at 20:00 local time.
