Belgium Rallies Past Czechia to Reach EuroVolley Quarterfinals
Belgium rallies from a set down to beat the Czech Republic 3-1, reaching the EuroVolley quarterfinals for the first time since 2017.
Belgium came back from a set down to beat the Czech Republic 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-15), securing a place in the EuroVolley men's quarterfinals for the first time since 2017.
The Czechs made the stronger start, winning the opening set 25-20 behind an efficient attack led by Patrik Indra. Belgium responded in a tightly contested second set; the Czechs erased a late deficit to tie it at 24-24, but Belgium won the next two points to close it 26-24 and shift the momentum in their favor.
Belgium took control from there, with strong blocking proving decisive. They cruised through the third set 25-14 and built an early lead in the fourth, closing out the match 25-15.
Ferre Reggers led all scorers with a match-high 24 points, including four blocks and two aces, while captain Sam Deroo added 17. Belgium finished with 15 total blocks. For the Czech Republic, Indra and Lukáš Vašina each scored 14 points.
