Fenerbahçe Medicana Women's Volleyball Team has officially appointed Italian coach Stefano Lavarini as head coach for the 2026-27 season, the club announced on August 14. Lavarini previously coached the club during the 2023-24 season, when he led the team to Turkish Cup and Sultanlar Ligi titles, as well as a Champions League semifinal appearance — a first in the club's history.
Lavarini began his coaching career as an assistant with Italy's Pallavolo Omega in the 1995-96 season. Over his career, he has held head coaching positions at clubs including Unilever Club Italy, Norda Fappagestiend Bergamo, UYBA Busto Arsizio, Igor Gorgonzola Novara, and Vero Volley Milano. Between 2017 and 2019, he coached Brazilian club Fambia/Minas, before taking charge of the South Korea national team from 2019 to 2021.
Born in 1979, Lavarini has served as head coach of the Poland women's national team since 2022, winning Nations League bronze medals with the team in 2023, 2024, and 2025. He will continue coaching Poland's national team through the 2026 season while also leading Fenerbahçe Medicana.
The club welcomed Lavarini back, wishing him a season full of success and championships.
