France Ends Preparation With Tie-Break Win Over Ukraine
France beats Ukraine 3-2 in a tie-break to end its preparation on a high note, ahead of opening EuroVolley against Slovakia.
France's women's national volleyball team closed out its preparation with a 3-2 (25-20, 17-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-10) tie-break win over Ukraine in Koszalin, Poland, ahead of the European Championship, which runs from August 21 to September 6.
The win snapped a run of five consecutive preparation defeats for the French side. Coach César Hernandez's team trailed 2-1 in sets against a Ukrainian side they had already beaten at the Nations League weeks earlier, before rallying to win the final two sets.
The match was also the final game of the Agata Mróz-Olszewska Memorial tournament, in which France finished third, behind champions Italy, who beat Poland 3-0 in the final.
Still without captain Héléna Cazaute, who is out with a back injury, France will now turn its full focus to the European Championship, opening the tournament on August 21 against Slovakia.
