Poland Sweeps Slovenia to Reach EuroVolley Final

Poland's national volleyball team reached the EuroVolley final without dropping a set, beating Slovenia 3-0 in a tense semifinal. It marked Poland's fourth consecutive meeting with Slovenia at this stage of the tournament, and their second win in that span.

Poland raced to an early lead in the first set on the back of an ace from Wilfredo Leon, though Slovenia's Klemen Čebulj quickly leveled things. Poland pulled ahead again through Leon, while Slovenia's Rok Možič and Jan Kozamernik kept their side in touch. Poland built a 20-15 lead, but Kozamernik's blocking pulled Slovenia back within two at 18-20. Poland extended the gap again to 23-19, only for Nik Mujanović to bring Slovenia within two at 23-21. Bartłomiej Bołądź brought Poland to set point, and a Slovenian service error closed out the first set.

The second set was tightly contested from the start, with Bartłomiej Lemański effective in the middle for Poland and Čebulj strong in both defense and attack for Slovenia. Mujanović was a constant threat throughout, keeping the set close at 17-17. A key stretch of blocking helped Poland move ahead 23-21, and despite another Mujanović ace, a winning attack from Leon closed out the set for Poland.

Slovenia started the third set on the front foot, with Mujanović and Kozamernik helping build an 11-7 lead, before a run of errors let Poland back into the match at 11-10. Bołądź took over on the right side for Poland, and with strong serving from Szymon Jakubiszak, Poland not only closed the gap but took the lead at 13-12. Poland's block and a resurgent Tomasz Fornal extended the advantage, while Marcin Komenda added a point from the service line to make it 21-17. Fornal set up match point with a block-assisted play, and Jakubiszak's composed net play sealed the semifinal for Poland.
