Projekt Warszawa Signs World Champion Yuri Romanò

PGE Projekt Warszawa has officially announced the signing of Italian national team opposite Yuri Romanò, a two-time world champion and the best attacker of the most recent World Championship. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional campaign filmed in the Canaletto Room of the Royal Castle, highlighting the Polish-Italian partnership.

Club president and sporting director Piotr Gacek said the signing of the 29-year-old was a major statement for the club, noting that both Polish and Italian volleyball currently represent the sport's highest level, both in league strength and national team success. He said the club had been looking for a world-class player capable of deciding the most important matches, adding that landing a player of Romanò's caliber from the very top of the sport was a significant challenge, since Italian players rarely leave their domestic league.

Projekt Warszawa will be Romanò's second club abroad. After many years playing in Italy, he spent his most recent season in the Russian Superliga with Fakel Yamal.

Romanò said joining Projekt Warszawa was a major challenge and an important step in his career, praising the Polish league's reputation as one of the strongest in the world and expressing excitement about training with his new team and playing in front of the club's fans. He will join the squad after the 2026 European Championship.
