Serbia Beats Czech Republic Twice in EuroVolley Preparation
Serbia sweeps two friendly wins over the Czech Republic, with Tijana Bošković and Aleksandra Uzelac in top form ahead of EuroVolley.
Serbia's women's national team, reigning European runners-up, swept two friendly matches against the Czech Republic in Belgrade ahead of the European Championship. Serbia won the first match 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-21, 25-19) on August 13, then followed up with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-22) win the next night, with an additional fourth set played by agreement between the two coaches.
In the first match, Serbia dominated the opening set before the Czechs fought back to level in the second. Serbia regained control with a strong start in the third set and closed out the match with a solid fourth set. Tijana Bošković and Aleksandra Uzelac led Serbia with 26 points each, followed by Hena Kurtagić with nine.
In the second match, Uzelac again impressed, scoring 21 points on a 36-18 attack ratio, confirming her strong form and apparent full recovery from injury ahead of the tournament. Nina Čajić added 14 points and Nađa Antonović finished with 11. Coach Zoran Terzić rotated his roster in this match, resting Bošković.
Serbia will play in Group B of the European Championship in Brno, Czech Republic, alongside Austria, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, and Ukraine. The tournament begins in seven days, with Serbia opening against Austria on August 21 at 14:00.
