Vargas and Örge Vow to Bring VNL Trophy Home
Türkiye's Melissa Vargas and Gizem Örge speak about their mindset ahead of the VNL final after sweeping China in the semifinal.
Türkiye's national women's volleyball team reached the final of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League after beating China 3-0 in the semifinal in Macao. Team captain Gizem Örge and opposite Melissa Vargas shared their thoughts with Anadolu Ajansı after the match.
Vargas said the team is not the only side chasing the title and stressed the need to raise their level for the final: "If we want the championship, we need to play very well."
Örge said her teammates have been improving steadily throughout the tournament and expressed confidence about the final: "We want to bring the trophy home again." She described the journey to the final as a proud one, adding that Türkiye did not win their tough matches easily and that every win has been valuable. She said the team atmosphere is strong and that the squad has been playing better over the past week as they prepare for the final.
